Can someone advise what the regulations in France are regarding a caravan and its registration ( if needed) when you bring it from the UK and have reregistered your UK car.
Is it the same as large trailers that need a separate plate from the car unlike the UK?

Hi Peter
All caravans in France have to be registered and are issued their own number. The problem with bringing a caravan from UK is that the door will be on the left side and it will not pass the test so will not be allowed to be registered.

Can you advise what test has to be undertaken as, with a large trailer for say a speedboat you just take the papers to the sous prefecture and they issue a carte gris.
