When submitting a C of C for the registration of your car in France, does the C of C have to be in the French Language?

I have known people who have been turned away for not supplying the CC in French. You can take a chance....do you feel lucky?

We reregistered our Volkswagen back in 2004.
We obtained a certiificate of conformity from England but it was certainly not in French and I think it may have been in German. There was no problem with the sous préfécture and the car was reregistered very quickly.
