If you are a regular user of the local wine product-save your corks as they make great crock when potting plants.

When potting on, it is advisable to put crock at the bottom of a pot before putting in soil to facilitate correct drainage and so the palnt does not get waterlogged. It is the bits of material you put in the bottom of a plant pot.
Usually, many people use clay crock from broken or frost damaged clay pots.

Another good recycling tip for crock is to use broken up pieces of poystyrene frpm packaging as in the normal course of events, this is non-recyclable and non-biodegradable and so ends up in landfill sites.

Well done bresse, when giving 'tips' it is always better to expalin properly wo the uninitiated can understand properly rather than just trying to sound an expert.

My apologies if I sounded like a pompous ass in saying what crock was as I had thought everyone knew what it was.

Good tip on the corks Peter

What a great idea using the corks for crock. Like 'Bresse' I too have used polystyrene before to good effect. Never thought of corks so thank you.
