With such good snowfall this year, the Jura resorts are still ski-ing well.
Yesterday we skied Balancier and La Dole by Les Rousses. Even with the holiday, no major queues and there was plenty of snow on the pistes.
Prices are still good-if you have to hire equipment, skis and boots are 16 euro for the day and the lift pass for the day is 20 euro for the Balancier Jouvencelles area and 27 is you want the Swiss side as well.
Full weather reports, webcams etc can be found at www.lesrousses.com
Drinks and lunch still well priced without the usual big resort premium.

A new fall of snow over the week-end has made the Jura excellent. Also, with the end of the vacances scolaire the hills are empty.
We were up there again today and no more than about 20 people on the mountain range.

Good to start from Balancier and you can link in with Darbella, Jouvencelles etc. they have closed the Tuffes wall-thank goodness!!! nThe link into teh Dole area is still also rewarding.

Season is officially closing on 15/3 but already they have announced they will extend it this year because of the good snow. From 23/3 they are doing a 50% discount on lift passes whilst the snow remains.

You can also grab yourself a bargain on equipment. The hire shops are already selling off the hire equipment. One of our crew today grabbed a pair of skis for Euros 55. (This season in Courcheval. it cost 97 Euros for a weeks hire!

Brilliant day on the mountain this week.
Warm sunny weather and empty pistes, though by the afternoon the snow is beginning to get a bit soupy.
Best time at the momment is in the morning; though do take some sun cream as we all got a bit burnt yesterday.

La Dole is fully open but some of Les Truffes are closed during the week-with a consequent lift pass reduction for the day-but fully open for the week-end.

Another heavy snowfall is predicted for this week-end so next week should be excellent again.

Sadly the end of the season is nigh.
We were up the mountain for two days last week-again great weather but the conditions have become quite icy in the shaded areas which makes for a different sort of challenge.
The resorts sre due to close on the 29th March now but snow is predicted for Tuesday and Wednesday so a last hurrah on Thursday.
Anyone wishing to join us let me know as there will be about 4 of us already making the last day.
