Welcome to the new website for Burgundy Friends

Welcome to the new website for Burgundy Friends

Firstly, I would like to wish all of our members and visitors a Happy New Year.

Due to technical difficulties with the old site, we had to take the decision over the holiday period to launch the new site and so, as promised in my end of year report, I was unable to get to everybody about the launch of the new site. However, even with some small bugs that still need ironing out and a bit of fine tuning to the site, we decided it was better to have a site for our members rather than nothing at all.

HOW DO I REGISTER FOR THE NEW SITE?

To register and to get on to the site fully, you will need to register anew in the Register box near the top right hand side of the site. When you register, the old Login details you had for the previous site will not apply and you will need to input new details. You can either use your old login details or use your own which may be more suitable to you.

In your profile section, you can choose an avatar for yourself or you can upload your own symbol or photo. If you wish to upload a photo, this is subject to approval – only on the basis of appropriate images!

WHAT IS NEW?

You will notice that there are various drop down menus on the site to navigate around for different sections – as opposed to the old static format we had previously. Some of the drop down menus do not have content or use yet, but more about that later.

On the Home page there are a number of features for instant viewing:-

-There are news headlines from both the English and French press

-There are some weather graphics. We currently display Dijon and Nevers. However, if there are more relevant areas or towns I would like to hear from you and we can look to change those.

-There is a poll module. We hope to develop this and change it regularly to get more feedback from members on a variety of subjects.

WHAT DROP DOWN MENUS ARE NOT WORKING?

The Forum and Shop drop downs have no content at present. To access the Forum you need to go to the SERVICE menu. There you will find the Forum as an option. To date, we have moved as many of the old knowledge data from our old site.

You will find there, a calendar option which shows an easy monthly view of events both from Burgundy Friends and also members and users.

The SHOP drop down will be developed shortly over the next month or so and I will send out a separate notice to members about this in due course.

On the MEMBERS ONLY section, once you have registered, you can get basic details of the other members as before and there is also the facility to send messages to specific members.

On the BURGUNDY drop down, there will be further content added shortly providing more information locally and also via David Cogan of Burgundy Eye, there will be a regional event, activity and restaurant listing.

OTHER –

Shortly, there will be the addition of further partners to the site who have supported the new site development and have been selected on the basis of the services that they offer being of use, benefit and relevance to our members.

We will also shortly be offering a French language service to our site, as we felt this would be appropriate in line with the object of Burgundy Friends as an Association.

Again, if you have any suggestions regarding the format or content of our site, please do not hesitate to contact me at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it
